Located in the picturesque hamlet of Cambridge Bay, Kiilinik High School serves the community of Cambridge Bay. The school has a population of approximately 220 students in a 7-12 setting with a staff of 29. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree or pending degree supported by letter from registrar indicating potential graduation date
Eligible for Nunavut Teaching Certificate
Desired qualifications:
Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)
Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy at the elementary level
Training and / or teaching experience in an English Language Learner (ELL) environment
Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
Please note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.
The salary for certified teachers ranges from $83,643 prorated/annum. to $131,151 prorated/annum.
The Northern Allowance for Cambridge Bay is $19,716 prorated/annum.
