Education Consultant (French Second Language) #9073

This is a Contract position in Quebec City, QC posted November 15, 2022.

Job percentage: 100% until the return of the incumbent or no later than June 30, 2023

Immediate supervisor: Coordinator of Instructional Educational Services

Nature of Work

The main occupation of the education consultant is to coordinate and support the French curriculum in order to facilitate the acquisition of the necessary skills in French as part of the requirements of the Quebec Education Program at both the elementary and the secondary levels. The educational Consultant will also be required to accompany school teams in setting up and developing professional learning communities in the school board’s schools.

He or she shall advise the directorate of Instructional Services and teachers concerning the establishment, development and evaluation of the French program, the appropriate organization of a school and the choice and use of methods, techniques, equipment and materials, etc. He or she shall also prepare and present workshops for school administrators and teachers.

Characteristic functions

  • Work with cycle-teams to help French teachers with the development of projects related to the Quebec Education Program;
  • Provide formal and informal assistance to teachers, school principals and colleagues;
  • On occasion, help, the administration council to target and plan activities for professional development and teaching strategies for teachers;
  • Develop and implement new material that the director of Instructional Services and the school administrators deem useful.
  • Manage the budget granted by the MEES as part of the “Mesure d’accueil” in French as a second language;
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues to provide appropriate support for professional learning communities that are either in the making or in place in the school board’s schools.

  • A teaching permit (brevet) in good standing issued by the MEES;
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of French, both orally and in writing and a good knowledge of English, both orally and in writing;
  • Experience in the application of recognized training Quebec Education program;
  • Skills in facilitating workshops (energy, etc.);
  • Good knowledge of computer work;
  • Good teamwork skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Able to travel to our schools in the different regions of the province.
