Edmonton Academy is seeking an individual who is a positive team member in their role of an Educational Assistant (EA). This person has a passion for supporting students in learning environments and enjoys ongoing professional development. The Educational Assistant will support teachers with the implementation of the specialized programming we offer to students with specific learning disorders. As an Educational Assistant you will work in small classrooms, with individuals or small groups of students primarily in grades 3-10.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Follow evidence-based approaches and teaching strategies as directed for use with students’ programs.
Follow any ISP strategies and/or directions as directed by the teacher and/or administration staff.
Reinforce and support the implementation of the expectations, supports and strategies for students at the individual, small group, classroom or whole-school level.
Prepare and modify materials with consultation from teachers to meet the individual needs of the students.
Organize and prepare program materials, visual support, games, supplies, and wall displays.
Work with computer programs to create materials.
Support students and teachers with the use and implementation of assistive and education technologies.
Assist with pre-teaching and/or review of concepts from the curriculum.
Support record keeping for student progress, observations, etc. and/or complete term progress checklists with the teacher(s).
Support the teaching and reinforcement of executive skills for building student independence.
Support student development of building positive social and relationship skills.
Adhere to the school policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Assistant Certificate is required.
Related degree or diploma is considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of directly related post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered.
Previous experience working in inclusive settings and directly supported students with Specific Learning Disorders, Autism, ADHD, or other special needs is required.
Clean Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Record Check is required.

School breaks – November Break (1 week), Christmas Break (2 weeks) and Spring Break (2 weeks).
COMPENSATION:
Approximately 35 hours a week, depending on school days/holidays from 8:00 – 4:00 pm
Hourly rate of $23.00
