Foothills School Division
Foothills School Division is currently seeking Educational Assistants to provide physical, social, emotional, behavioral and learning support to students/children identified with mild, moderate and/or severe needs in a variety of settings within the school environment.
Part time hours follow the school calendar schedule for approximately 9.75 hours per week. Daily schedule will over 2-3 days per week and will be determined with the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with minimal supervision under the direction of the classroom teacher and learning coach. They will provide flexible support to students/children according to their changing needs and to facilitate and encourage independence in all areas of student/child development.
The Education Assistant will establish effective working relationships with teachers, parents and the community. A strong background and expertise working with students with a wide range of physical, cognitive, social and emotional differences including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Trauma
Down Syndrome
medically fragile
mild, moderate and severe intellectually delayed
ADHD
self-care personal assistance
Experience working with students with complex needs that includes collaboration with educational support teams and therapists, such as SLP, OT, and Behavioral Consultants is an asset. Successful candidates cannot begin without a satisfactory Criminal Record Check completed within the last 6 months. Start dates will be dependent on providing FSD with the required documentation.
