Grade 1/2 French Immersion T2024-0116

This is a Contract position in Williams Lake, BC posted August 28, 2024.

Description of Assignment

Grade 1/2 French Immersion. Full Time Temporary.

Effective September 1st, 2024. The end date of this assignment is pending the return of the incumbent but is not anticipated prior to June 30th, 2025. This position will not extend beyond June 30th, 2025. The FTE of this assignment may decrease to accommodate the incumbent.

*This position qualifies for a $1500.00 pre-employment incentive, payable after the first day of work.

Salary

The salary of this assignment is based on our current salary grid and upon verification of your BC TQS as well as verification of years of service from previous employers. The current salary range is $59, 711.00 to $109, 520.00 per annum, paid over 10 months.

Special Qualifications Required

*Training and experience teaching French Immersion at the primary level

*Fluency in both oral and written French and English

We commit to supporting our new teachers (those with 0-3 years of experience) by facilitating a structured mentorship program. Teachers who desire mentorship but who have more than 3 years experience will qualify for mentorship based on the provisions within our collective agreement.

We further support those who have a desire to explore their leadership abilities by offering a leadership series throughout the school year. Participants can expect to meet with the group in person (and over dinner), a minimum of 3 times. This structured series is facilitated by our Superintendent of Schools.

We also believe in providing Professional Development beyond the provisions of our collective agreement. The District has engaged in long term contracts with several (up to 6) educational leaders. Teachers can expect to see the educational leaders in our District, up to 2 days prior to a Professional Development Day, offering hands on coaching both in the classroom and in sessions (evening or during the Professional Development Day).

Our local teachers' union, the Cariboo Chilcotin Teachers' Association, also boasts strong collective agreement language regarding Professional Development as well as financial support for their members to engage in opportunities.

Relocation allowance may be offered with this position.
