Black River Anishinabe School is a well-equipped Nursery to Grade 9 school with approximately 230 students located on the banks of the O’Hanly and Black Rivers along the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg, 150 kilometers northeast of Winnipeg. The community has a population of approximately 1,000 people with community services such as general store/gas bar and health centre.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education Degree
Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
A sound knowledge of provincial Senior Years curricula
Previous Senior Years teaching experience
A sound knowledge and experience with school-based technology
Strong classroom management skills
Experience working with students with unique needs
A commitment to differentiated instruction
A willingness to inquire into best practices and reflect on practices
A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn
Self-motivated
Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life is an asset
Experience with integrating Indigenous culture and land-based teaching into curriculum is an asset
