Hospitality Management Instructor

We are currently accepting applications for a Hospitality Management Instructor .

Responding to changes in the hospitality industry, both locally and globally, the VIU Hospitality Management department is addressing this new reality as it grows its Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree.

The Hospitality Management programs, housed in the Faculty of Management, offer a collegial, developmental environment and an energetic faculty with a variety of intellectual interests and close ties to the hospitality and academic communities.

Duties: Develop and prepare lessons, instruct, assess and grade students in diverse areas of specialization of the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree and related program areas.

Deliver course in person on the Nanaimo Campus of VIU: HOSP 241 (3 credits, spring) Food Service Management An opportunity to manage a student run on-campus food service operation, including menu planning, staffing, food production, service, control systems, financial aspects, food production scheduling and leadership development.

Note: Actual lab hours may vary from week to week.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service.

Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

Required Qualifications: A degree in a related area from an appropriately accredited institution Recent relevant experience A post-secondary education credential from an appropriately accredited institution, or a completed industry trade qualification, accompanied by extensive applicable professional experience, may be considered in lieu of a completed degree Preference will be given to applications demonstrating, recent post-secondary teaching experience; relevant culinary experience and/or credentials; recent relevant applied professional experience; relevant professional memberships; and an ability to work in a team-oriented department in an institution that is primarily focused on students and teaching To Apply: If this is the next step in your professional career, please submit your application online by November 9, 2022.
