ROLE PURPOSE

Trains, leads, coaches and mentors the light rail vehicle operator workforce

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilizes appropriate technology to facilitate trainee learning and comprehension (i.e., e-learning tools, PowerPoint presentations, videos, etc.).
  • Collaborates with Operations Management team to ensure all required resources are available to successfully onboard and train newly hired operators.
  • Continuously evaluates Operator training program for efficiency, consistency, and general effectiveness.
  • Regularly communicates with Operations Management team to identify issues with current training curriculum and/or to improve current policies and procedures.
  • Provides instruction and assistance to Operators in the field, as needed.
  • Addresses Operator performance deficiencies through additional classroom and/or practical instruction.
  • Re-certifies Operators in refresher and remedial (accident) training.
  • Conducts technical,compliance, and mandatory training courses.
  • Conducts Operator evaluations and audits according to performance standards.
  • Provides additional coverage as an Operator to mitigate absence and/or in emergency situations when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous management or supervisory experience within the Light Rail or Public Transport Industry is an asset
  • CAT II or III LRV Certification required.
  • Basic technical aptitude and capabilities in order to carry out technical operations – able to utilize technology, with a working knowledge of computer software
  • Displays attention to detail and vigilance
  • Previous experience in training/mentoring employees in a transit environment would be an asset.
