An exciting opportunity exists to join a dynamic leadership team and grow your skills working within a collaborative team environment at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Unit 44 is a 32 bed in-patient acute medical unit with a focus on COPD. Unit 51 is a 32 bed in-patient transition unit with a focus on patient and family centered care supporting needs of a population that are in a transition phase of their lives. As a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) on Unit 44 and Unit 51 you will be a clinical leader and will be responsible for the delivery of programs based on identified needs which include legislation, continued competencies, quality improvement, strategic plans and objectives and organizational needs necessary to ensure best practice in the care of our patients. You will provide clinical leadership through participating in the development and ongoing maintenance of zonal and provincial educational initiatives and clinical policies and procedures in addition to providing educational support and programs for Patients, Families, the Clinical Team members and members of other teams within PLC. The CNE is expected to work collaboratively with staff and a large multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate: excellent communication and organization skills; problem solving, creative thinking and conflict resolution skills; the ability to effectively provide feedback to other team members in a meaningful manner and to receive feedback from others; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the health team and demonstrated flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Minimum 5 years nursing experience within the last 7 years in an acute care medical unit. At least 3 years recent Charge Nurse experience.
Masters Degree in Nursing or equivalent. CNE or Nurse Clinician experience in the last 3 years. Experience with program development, delivery & measurement of learning outcomes. Experience leading quality improvement & change management. Quality Improvement certifications. Change Management certifications. Leadership development courses in last 2 years. Knowledge of adult learning principles. Current Its Your Move Trainer Certificate.
