Salary Range: $63,192 – $112,685
School District 10, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples. Required characteristics/ strengths include:
Major in Physical Education, Sport Science, Kinesiology, or Outdoor Education at the university level is desirable
Successful PE and Health Education teaching experience at the primary and intermediate level is desirable
Undergrad or postgraduate diploma or coursework in Indigenous Studies and Aboriginal Education would be an asset
Interest in engaging and learning from local Elders, Indigenous communities, and Aboriginal Education Councils
Experience in planning and designing engaging Indigenous education learning activities, and experience teaching the BC curriculum would be an asset
A keen interest and passion for teaching outdoor and environmental education
Demonstrated skills and experience implementing technology to support learning and teaching
Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulation in the classroom
Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working in a team environment
Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners
Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and to collaboration in organizing the school and classroom for learning
Exemplary use of assessment strategies that engage and foster learning
Strengths in teaching and engaging all learners in multi-grade classrooms which foster equity and inclusion
Commitment and expertise building relationships with parents and community
Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs is an asset
