Payroll Specialist


This is a Full-time position in Waterloo, ON posted July 16, 2021.

Aon is searching for a Payroll Specialist (Anywhere in Canada) As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions supporting our HR Operations team.

In this role you will report to the North America Payroll Lead and can be based anywere in Canada.

Your impact as a Payroll Specialist Job Responsibilities: Partner with our 3rd party Payroll provider (Alight) to ensure colleagues are paid accurately and timely; Manage all Canada Payroll escalations.

Escalations may include but are not limited to : problem resolution, on demand pay submissions, income updates and ensuring data consistency as needed; Manage the annual year-end tax project for Canada from the client side; Serve as subject matter expert for Canada Payroll and liaise with CRA and other agencies as needed; Participate in and support data requests related to audits as needed; Submit various wires and remittances on a periodic basis; Work with Accounting, Benefits, Finance, as needed; Participate in the annual Compensation Cycle to ensure accurate handling of RRSP and RSSP redirect; Other related duties.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise Required Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a previous Payroll or HR role; Must be able to work independently and with minimum supervision; Exemplary customer service skills; Good proficiency with systems; Experience working with Workday, an asset; Bilingualism or working proficiency in French would also be an asset.

Education: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent years of experience in a relevant field; FPC certification or willingness to obtain it.
