As a Senior Accountant You are interested in accounting and have qualified as a CPA because you want to make meaningful contributions in positions you hold.

Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for performing full-cycle accounting, cash management and month-end tasks for each of the three entities within the SEDNA Group.

Responsibilities Support accounts payable and banking functions.

Communicate with multiple departments for updates on customer status and subsequently oversee invoice drafting, review, issuance and collections.

Review required government remittances WCB, GST, PST, VAT, EHT and all other relevant regulatory filings.

Lead the SRED and other R&D claims.

Review general ledger accounts and prepare monthly journal entries, including multi-currency consolidation.

Perform full-cycle accounting and month end functions efficiently and accurately.

Prepare month-end financial reports of multi-company group and their consolidation for review and discussion.

Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external advisors as required.

Assist the Controller and other departmental leads with the annual budget process including providing meaningful recommendations.

Assist the Controller with ad hoc and regular financial analysis and reports as required to support the executive team.

Review accounting procedures and make recommendations to improve or implement processes.

Investigate and resolve financial transaction issues including GAAP requirements.

Guide and mentor junior accounting staff.

Perform other accounting duties as assigned by the Controller.

Assist the Controller as necessary to ensure and maintain a high performing finance and accounting team where we provide timely and accurate financial information for the decision makers of the company.

Requirements You have a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold a CPA designation (or close to completion) or equivalent in work experience.

You have 3-5 years of recent related experience in a similar role with a SaaS business and you’re ready for the next stage in your career.

You have proven experience in taking responsibility for full-cycle accounting processes, policies and systems.

You are fluent in a complex multi-currency and multi-entity environment with various commodity taxes, reporting and requirements.

You have familiarity with IFRS reporting requirements.

You have strong financial and analytical ability.

You’re detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.

You’re self-motivated and results driven; you’re comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

You have advanced working knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets (this is a must).

You have knowledge of Sage Intacct and experience with Cloud Based Computing.

You have proven prioritization, time management and project management skills.

You possess highly effective written and interpersonal communication skills; you have the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.

You have demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information; you use diplomacy and tact in all interactions.
