Position Summary Reporting to the Team Lead, Billings & Payables, the Senior Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of accounts payable, maintains accurate records, and reconciles accounting statements.

This position oversees the other three members of the Accounts Payable staff (two full-time, one casual) which will include monitoring daily activities, training, scheduling, work assignment, and problem resolution.

This position: Acts as key contact person for the team regarding vendor or staff problem resolution Responsible for monitoring and adjusting workload of staff to maximize operational efficiency Responsible for the accurate and timely payment to suppliers following IWK policies Communicates and assists with internal managers and staff regarding payment of invoices Facilitates payment runs to meet suppliers’ demands; maintenance of four accounts, CAD/US funds, obtains foreign bank drafts, and ensures that all invoices have been coded correctly Coordinates and administers expense claim and reimbursement process Provides quality customer service for suppliers and public by responding to any inquiries Performs other related duties as required.

Hours of Work Monday to Friday; 70 hours bi-weekly.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Graduate from a recognized Office Administration Program required Minimum two (2) years experience in a health care setting required A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered Three (3) years experience with computerized hospital accounting preferred Knowledge of basic accounting procedures Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology (testing may be conducted on candidates) Knowledge of SAP an asset Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter-professional team members required High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail, and self-discipline/focus Commitment to continual learning and willing to share knowledge and support the development of co-workers Demonstrated commitment to family-centred care required Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills required Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Thank you for your interest with the IWK Health.
