Swimming Instructor

YMCA of Quebec

This is a Contract position in Levis, ns posted November 20, 2021.

POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Aquatic Activities Coordinator, the successful candidates primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety of the swimmers, and to teach swimming and water safety to people of all ages.

RESPONSIBILITIES Perform lifeguarding duties during open swim, swimming lessons and aquafit classes.

Prevention and intervention as needed.

Conduct chlorine tests.

Complete opening and/or closing forms.

Participate in special events offered to centre employees, volunteers and members.

Make note of all damaged equipment (lifejackets, aquafit belts, toys, cables).

Prepare classes (lesson plans).

Monitor participant progression from one class to the next.

Fill out progress reports (childrens lessons).

Follow up with parents of children in swimming lessons.

Adhere to the YMCAs Child Protection Policies and Procedures.

Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy in both specific position and Association, and participate in the Annual Campaign and/or other fundraising events.

QUALIFICATIONS 17 Years old or over National Lifesaver certification.

CPR (Level C) and AED certification.

Red Cross or YMCA swim instructor certification (an asset).

First aid certification (an asset).

Knowledge of and support for the YMCAs mission and values.

Able to work in both French and English.

Interpersonal and communication skills.


Have no criminal record in connection with employment.
