Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
• extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in all areas of this assignment
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• knowledge of and successful experience using a comprehensive literacy framework to support the direct instruction of literacy; preference will be given to individuals with successful experience with using small group reading and writing instruction
• knowledge of and successful experience using effective strategies to support the direct instruction of numeracy skills in a balanced numeracy framework; preference will be given to individuals with successful experience using a variety of effective strategies such as Number Talks and SNAP, using small group instruction
• knowledge of and experience with integrating into the classroom First Peoples Principles of Learning along with local First Peoples traditions & culture
• knowledge, experience, and willingness to support the Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement goals
• demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively use classroom, school, district and provincial level assessments to differentiate instruction and learning
• demonstrated ability to effectively select, differentiate or adapt instructional materials to meet the individual academic, social/emotional, and behavioural needs of students
• demonstrated ability to effectively engage students in their own learning through Inquiry Learning/Design Learning
• demonstrated ability to utilize proactive classroom management strategies, including PBS, to promote a positive and effective learning environment as well as social responsibility throughout the school
• proven commitment and strong ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative fashion to engage in shared planning, shared decision making and to develop a strong and caring professional learning community in support of the School Growth Plan
• proven ability to demonstrate and apply excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents
• demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in developing CBIEPs and to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration in the implementation of these plans (School Based Team model)
