POSITION

Worksite: Rosedale Traditional Community School

Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Assignment Area(s): Primary – Kindergarten

Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: Immediately until not later than June 30, 2025 (or return of teacher)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment

• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

• willingness to make outdoor learning and play part of the daily routines of learning

• relevant training and experience in teaching Kindergarten and/or early Primary

• a demonstrated ability and a commitment to embed the Prescribed Learning Outcomes in a play-based curriculum conducive to the social/emotional, academic and physical development of young learners

• demonstrated ability to select, modify or adapt instructional materials to meet the individual academic, social/emotional, and behavioural needs of students

• experience, training in, and a willingness to carry out the District Early Intervention Screens such as the KLST (Kindergarten Language Screening Test)

• the ability to utilize a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to show what they know (assessment for, as, of learning), and allow the teacher to plan for/adjust instruction to meet the collective and individual learning needs of students

• demonstrated ability to utilize proactive classroom management strategies in order to promote a positive and effective classroom learning environment and throughout the school; supporting PBS and school wide initiatives in supporting social responsibility

• proven commitment and strong ability to working with colleagues in a collaborative fashion to engage in shared planning, shared decision making and to develop a strong and caring professional learning community in support of the School Growth Plan

• familiarity with, and a proven ability to utilize a wide variety of literacy strategies with young learners including, but not limited to, oral language programs such as Moe the Mouse and Talking Tables and a balanced literacy program to promote reading readiness and early writing skills

• proven ability, commitment and willingness to work collectively with colleagues, parents and administration in order to support all students through an RTI system and student-centered model

• proven ability to demonstrate and apply excellent interpersonal skills with student, staff and parents

• demonstrated commitment and involvement in professional development and weekly staff collaboration that supports the enhancement of student learning (literacy/numeracy/social responsibility/application of technology/engaging learners) as is applies to the Kindergarten and early primary setting

• knowledge of and demonstrated integration of technology in the classroom
