Effective Date: Immediately until not later than June 30, 2025
Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Please Note: We are willing to consider applicants who do not possess the qualifications for this assignment. There will be required in-service for the successful candidate to complete. The assignment within this position in September may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
• extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services
• demonstrated understanding of and successful experience in teaching students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, autism, chronic health and physical disabilities, and multiple disabilities
• knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of CBIEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel
• demonstrated understanding of inclusion, especially the design of lessons using a Universal Design for Learning framework
• demonstrated ability in working as a Case Manager for students at the school, district, and inter-agency levels
• demonstrated willingness to participate as an integral member of the School Based Team
• demonstrated ability to liaise with classroom teachers to assure that the goals of the IEPs are effectively being implemented and evaluated
• demonstrated experience in effective transition planning from elementary to middle and middle to secondary
• demonstrated leadership role in adapting curriculum for students with Exceptionalities
• demonstrated success at working with and coordinating programs/schedules for a team of Educational Assistants
• demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
• demonstrated organizational, communication and classroom management skills
• demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues verbally and in writing
• demonstrated ability & proven experience in teaching social skill groups and functional life skills
• demonstrated ability & proven experience in using technology to support student needs especially ones supported by SET-BC
• demonstrated excellence in the areas of interpersonal skills, communication, and collaboration
• willingness to learn about and participate in Response to Intervention and Instruction processes
• demonstrated ability to use a variety of formative and summative assessments to plan for instruction
• demonstrated excellent classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills
• commitment to working with staff/parents in an open, accepting manner in order to promote a strong and caring professional learning community focused on student learning and needs
• demonstrated effective ability to select, adapt, modify and deliver instructional materials to personalize instruction and meet the individual needs of students both individually and in small groups.
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using the First Peoples Principles of Learning.
