Effective Date: Immediately until not later than December 31, 2024 (or return of teacher)

Please Note: We are willing to consider applicants who do not possess the qualifications for this assignment. There will be required in-service for the successful candidate to complete. The assignment within this position in September may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching of all areas of this assignment

• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

• MEd in Teacher-Librarianship, MLIS or Diploma in Teacher-Librarianship

• successful elementary/middle school experience as a Teacher-Librarian fostering an interest in reading

• collaboration skills in order to support classroom teachers in fostering independent learners by demonstrated ability to provide literacy and curriculum leadership, professional development, and support services for school staff in information and communication technology

• teaching research, information literacy, technology, communication, and critical thinking skills

• ability to manage a resource collection using curricular and student interests to identify and obtain library materials, organize, and maintain the library collection to promote independent reading and lifelong learning

• demonstrated strong interest in, knowledge and understanding of literature and ability to share a passion for books and learning with students

• demonstrated experience with online databases, online libraries, SharePoint, learning resources

• ability to maintain and troubleshoot the library computers, printers/copiers

• demonstrated ability and proven experience using performance standard assessments with Literacy

• familiarity with a wide variety of literacy programs, strategies, and methods of assessment

• proven ability, commitment, and willingness to work collectively with colleagues, parents, and administrators in order to support all students through a student-centred model

• demonstrated ability and experience in working with teachers to improve instructional practice in literacy

• demonstrated excellent listening, speaking, presentation and writing skills

• be committed to the development and maintenance of a library website
