Worksite: Chilliwack Secondary School

Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Assignment Area(s): Science 9 and Makerspace 9

Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: Immediately until not later than January 24, 2025

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment

• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

• Bachelor of Science Degree is preferred

• Certified to teach in British Columbia with Bachelor of Education

• Experience teaching Science at the secondary level

• demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of classroom assignments at the secondary level

• demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services.

• demonstrated ability and energy to use a variety of instructional strategies to teach secondary students.

• demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly.

• demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills.

• demonstrated ability to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach.

• demonstrated organizational, communication and classroom management skills.

• demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both verbally and in writing.

• demonstrated experience with the RTI framework to support student learning.

• demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents and students.

• demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development.

• demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning.
