OUR SCHOOL Mount Academy is a private university preparatory school located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Opened in the fall of 2017, the Mount provides an energetic and supportive environment for student athletes looking to maximize their academic and athletic potential.

JOB DESCRIPTION Mount Academy is seeking a Math and Science Teacher to join our Upper School faculty (grades 10-12) in September 2020.

The successful candidate will be comfortable in delivering university preparatory courses in Math, Chemistry and Physics.

A flexible, energetic self starter, the successful candidate would enjoy student interaction in an activity/project based learning environment.

They will appreciate the benefits of an active living style and would support and participate in physical and outdoor student activities.

The successful applicant will be a demonstrated team player who enjoys working in a collaborative and cooperative manner.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Mount Academy is a small school that requires staff who are able to take on multiple roles within the organization in a logistical, academic and athletic context.

Co-reporting to the Head of School and the Director of Hockey, the successful candidate would be expected to; Assume responsibility for planning and delivery of upper school courses as assigned by the Head of School.Assume responsibility for and meet regularly with a select group of students in a Faculty Advisor role.Provide co-curricular instruction, assistant coaching and logistical support as part of the Midget Boys Prep Hockey Program.

The coaching role involves up to eight (8) weekend travel trips as part of team league play.Enter rotation for daily study halls, including one evening per month.Participate in faculty and staff meetings as required.Engage in professional development opportunities as provided and/or supported by the school.Support fellow faculty with short term coverage of classes to ensure that the delivery of content continues in a teacher’s absence.Support various school initiatives and other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS Candidates certified or eligible for secondary teaching certification in Prince Edward are preferred, however, candidates with a post-secondary degree in Math, Chemistry, Physics or a related field and an interest in teaching would be seriously considered.
